About This Product
After bleeding all air from the loop, students press on the small piston and watch the large one rise, with pressure passed equally through the water. Because the output cylinder has twice the diameter, and so four times the area, a small weight on the input tray can balance a much larger one on the output, while the graduations show that the large piston moves a shorter distance, which links force, area and work.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why must air be removed from the Hydraulic Press Model STEM Lab?
Air compresses while water does not, so trapped bubbles absorb the input force and the pistons no longer follow Pascal’s law closely.
