About This Product
For paper chromatography, a sample spot is placed on a pencil line 2 cm from the bottom of a strip, which then stands in solvent 1 cm deep in the development jar until the solvent front nears the end. Students separate chlorophyll pigments from crushed leaves, amino acids from hydrolysed protein and the colourants in commercial inks, then work out retention factor values. The glass column is packed with an adsorbent slurry to separate coloured mixtures by column chromatography.
